Most certified divers don't stop diving because they lost interest. They just never heard from you again. Advanced, Rescue, specialties, there's a natural next step for almost every diver. They just need someone to point it out at the right moment.
A dive trip is one of the better things your shop can offer. It takes a group of people who booked separately and turns them into people who actually dive together. But it only works if they hear about it early enough and trust you enough to say yes.
Nobody buys a regulator from a shop they don't know well. Divers who have trained with you and heard from you over time are already close to a purchase.
Your regulars are the ones who fill the quiet months. If they're hearing from you through the off-season, you're not starting from scratch every November. If they're not, you probably are.

I grew up a mere five minutes from the Pacific Ocean and never once went in. It took two more years after that deal to actually put on a wetsuit. But once I did, I couldn't stop. What started as a dare turned into a decade of chasing descents, travelling solo on questionable buses and boats, and earning certifications all the way up to Assistant Instructor.
Somewhere along the way I started noticing the gap between what this sport actually feels like and how most dive shops present it online. Generic stock photos. Cluttered course lists. Booking flows that make you want to give up and walk in instead.
That's what Below the Fold Studio is about. I know this industry from the water up, and I know what it takes to make a website that does the diving justice and actually brings people through the door.
